What's new

Gillette Silver Blue. Perfection?

Two shaves in and I'm blown away.

Yesterday, shaved with a black handle Superspeed, today with a TTO Milord.

WTG - no sense of a blade even being in the razor, except that the whiskers go away.

XTG - a little more audio feedback, still can't feel the presence of the blade.

ATG - Can finally feel a bit of blade presence, very smooth on my neck which usually gets a bit hot while shaving ATG.

I like Feathers, I love lots of Personna models, but this gives another whole level.

Going to try it in an OC tomorrow to really feel the blade on my face. If this blade lasts past 4 shaves, I may have a new fave!

One of my top 2 blades, along with the Voshkod. Sharp, smooth and effective, for me. Blades are so personal, but this is a good one for many people. At $20.99/100 it's hard to argue with the price either.

It's certainly in the top five of all blades. For me personally my only one although I've heard a lot about the Russian blades being pretty good so those will be coming soon. We'll see how good compared to GSB.

In my top (3) rotation. I probably use the GSB more than anything else. I had read warnings that the the blade was out of production so I bought several hundred. I don't know if it truly is discontinued because it still seems to be available from several sources.

I find it to be exceptionally sharp but it looses that sharpness quickly for me. I feel the difference after the first shave and I toss it after the 2nd shave like the Feather. I think the Feather loses sharpness after the 1st shave but is actually more forgiving on the 2nd shave. The GSB feels kind of ragedy to me on the second shave but I'm too cheap to toss it after just one shave. :)

Shaved with an Gillette Belmont for the third shave on this blade. The Belmont really presents the blade to my face, so i figured it would be a good indication of sharpness and smoothness.

Right from the start, I felt and heard more feedback from the blade. No discomfort, but I knew when i was going across fresh whiskers.

Saw one tiny red spot during the shave - rare for me. Still very comfortable, but now felt like a new Personna Red or Crystal. Still, after 2 shaves, that's pretty impressive.

Next will be into my reference razor, my Pre-WW2 Fat Handle Tech.

This is one of my favorite blades. I got some in a trial pack when I started DE shaving and have just ordered 100 from Amazon for $22.00.
I also like Personna Blue blades another of my fav blades, or should I say Favorites so far!

Just like butter - I'm shocked. Usually a smooth sharp blade will end up having a short shaving life, but I bet this one goes a whole week! Such a gentle shave and very close shave, but of course the Tech has a lot to do with that, too.

Next up - a Schick Krona that I had to epoxy the head back on. That should be a good challenge!

I used one today and was very happy with it. Sharp and smooth.

Correction, I used the super platinums and they were spectacular

GSBs are always in my top 3. They work great in all 6 DE razors in my rotation. I do, however, only use them for 2 shaves & discard but I do that with all blades.

Fifth and last shave on this blade. Fortunately, I have 39 more left!

Loaded into a plastic knob Krona, usually a nice mild shaver. Still felt very comfortable, but the performance has dropped off to "just okay" - didn't get as smooth as I would like on my jaw line, although it was still very easy on my neck.

No point pushing the blade when I have many left. Looks like it will be 4 shaves and then toss them. Why get a good shave when you can get a great shave with a new GSB?

Will definitely stock up on these.
