Gillette Serial Number

Hello. I am interested in the question, is it possible to find out the year of production of the razor by the number? I have a Gillette 1905-1921.

Hello, here you go:

That is cool. Any chance of a photo of your 1916? We loves our photos.
This is Gillette.

I'll leave it as it is. Once that 100 + years of patina is gone, it's gone for another 100 years.

In addition, I have a 100-year-old razor in almost new condition.

I also want to find arguably the rarest Gillette double-ring on the planet.

this one ?
I think this one I posted 4 years ago is equally rare considering added provenance: The person Gillette sent the set to is documented on an overlay ribbon. G. E. Ames of the Portland Chamber of Commerce was a key player in the development of Portland as a major US export/import center in 1903.

Patent applied for, no serial #, 20 blades instead of 12, imperfect knurling. There is another one out there if you can find it @Windigo.

Won't be the same plus takes a long time to get that rich natural patina, and that's where the history is.
Respectfully disagree ;)
Historically it was shiny off the line. People usually take care of their things... but some prefer the look of 50 years worth of neglect I guess, and that's ok too!

Just put it in zipper bag together with a crushed hard boiled egg. It will develop a natural patina in hours.
