In 1968 the Gillette company introduced the Orbitor 4000. Very few Orbitors were sold. It made use of the techmatic cartridge, introduced a few years earlier, to litte succes. In this cartridge the user could advance the blade strip to the next part with a crank lever when the part used became blunt.

Funny, this is the second time in a month that I've seen one of these.
I received this one in a box of Gillette items that was sent to me by the former Plant Manager of Gillette in So. Boston.
I missed it in the picture but you can see the base of it.

Some very interesting stuff there, what is the razor to the left of the Orbitor, a custom Atra razor of some type?

Wonderful stuff Thirdeye!!! I had read a comment you made to Asylum Guido a while back about getting some stuff from this Gillette dood. I was just dieing to know what it was!

Do you have extras? Can I write Asylum Guido and say I am getting some stuff from a guy who got some stuff from an ex manager at Gillette?? I would be so happy! :w00t:

There aren't many of these. My understanding is that they were withdrawn from the market by Gillette very soon after their initial release. Apparently, they were prone to causing injury. I don't have direct knowledge, I'm just restating the gist of a thread here about these from 3~4 years ago.

I know of a stash of these in NOS condition at a local drug store. They also have a bunch of NOS vibrating handles that take TracII cartridges.
