Gillette ID/age?

Hi,

I've just bought a couple of razors from an antique store, and wondered if you guys could help me figure out what they are, and what age they might be? I think I've got an old type and an Aristocrat (at least, that's what the box says). What do you think?

Thanks!
Richard

Sorry to post again so soon, but I've just tried out the Aristocrat with a feather (if that is what it actually is) and had the best shave of my life. I only started DE shaving a few weeks ago, and am absolutely hooked!

You're right. The first one is a Gillette old type and the second one is a 1938 #15 Aristocrat.

Congratulations. They're both in fantastic shape, especially the Aristocrat and box. The Aristocrat is a very good shaver as well as being beautiful and collectible.

The British Aristocrat Range are Rhodium plated and a very beautiful range and quite collectable.

As you've found out they also give a very nice shave.

The #15 is a very nice find.

Enjoy it..... :001_smile

( Oh and welcome to B&B.... nice start! )

Congrats on a great find, you've started in a big way. They both look great, and the Aristocrat you have is one of the more highly sought pieces out there. They bring lots of bids and often big numbers when auctioned, often over $100 us, approaching $200 (and could even go higher on occasion).

Enjoy them both, that Aristocrat is said to be one of the best shavers around.

Congratulations, That British #15 is an awesome score and as you've found out fantastic shaving razor......Enjoy and welcome to B&B!!!

What a start! Your #15 looks very nice. It's common to see them with brassing so yours seems to have held up well. Congrats!

Thanks for your replies. I knew Aristocrats were good, but hadn't realised they were held in such high regard. I think I've found the bargain of the week - I only paid NZ$35 for it (US$25).... very happy!

Only problem now is that I'm frustrated waiting for my beard to grow so I can have another shave....
