I'm just guessing, but I think their benchmarks were a little different than BBS/DFS!!

plus skin tolerances were most likely tougher than today.

I sorta doubt even the frontiersmen of the early 20th century got 40 shaves from a DE blade!! Even if they could tolerate the torment of the 10th shave and up the blade would have likely rusted by number forty

ive never ever seen one online. but that early singlering was found not long ago have alook about 5 pages down in safety razors
