Gillette double edge safety razor blades

doctordial

my brain goes "thonk"
Has anyone used the Gillette 7 O'CLOCK sharp blades in the yellow box or the super platinum in the gray box. I have the 7 O'CLOCK super stainless in the green box and don't particularly car for them after I started usig feathers.

I just got through trying the Yellows, they worked better for me in a milder razor, like a flare tip Super Speed. I'm not familiar with any "gray"pack Gillettes, but there are dark blues (Russian), and blacks (Indian). I thought both of those were very nice blades, quite a few others on here would agree.

I like the Yellow's. I went through most a sampler pack, and really did like these. They became my first 100 order purchase. I use them in Gillette slim adjustable's and a fatboy. I would like to try the rest of the Gillette 7' o'clock brand, but will wait til I am low on these.

Of the Gillette blades that I have used, I prefer the 7 O'Clock blacks, Stainless (Russian), Silver Blue and, of course, the original Super Iridium.

Just like Feathers, I found the yellows too sharp for my liking, but at least they didn't give me the weepers I got from Feathers. I'm currently using the super platinum (dark blue) and like them. I have 1 black yet to try.

All the 7' Oclock varieties feel too sharp for me.

But I'm currently enamored of the Gillette Silver Blue, and Gillette Rubie. I may never shave with a non-Rusky blade again.

I purchased 480 Yellows when Connaught used to offer a great bulk-purchase price (at less than 17 cents a blade, including shipping). They are second in my rotation, after Perma-sharp Supers (made in the same factory, and which are a bit less sharp but a bit smoother for me, and which were also purchased in bulk for about 17 cents a blade before the price rose). Feathers are my third blade. Currently there's not much difference in price between these brands (as well as the other Gillettes) if you purchase the Feathers from Jason in Singapore (Double Edge Shaving Place; pm him via B&B) at 26/27 cents per blade, so, at current prices I'd certainly go with Feathers over Yellows if the Feathers work for you.

Russian blades are the best and I live in fear that someday they'll just disappear......
Oh, the Gillette Rubie is my go-to blade. IMO, the most underrated blade around. It's like a better version of the Astra, sharper and smoother, versatile in all razors.
