Gillette Bulldog from 1920

This handle has been copied, but with little success. The head has been attempted to be improved upon, but the original continues to be among the most solid designs. The plating has changed -- the solid stainless has been perfected (almost). But this Gillette open comb Bulldog from 1920 is a great razor -- one of the best of the original Old Style designs, with a finesse in the knurling that has rarely been improved upon (I give the rhodium plated British Aristocrats a slight edge). This is a classic of American ingenuity, like our early electronics and automobiles, but this one has lasted and is still usable today.

Digital photos, but not touched up at all. What a classy beast!

Silver-plated beauty.

Great leather case to take when traveling. And notice the open comb teeth, and how they reinforced that end one -- the one that often broke on other models. This is a solid razor, one that's withstood 90+ years or use and storage.

Great razor, the 1st one was designed for Chief of the Company and his desire for a Bull Dog handle. They came in triple plated silver, gold plated, and the military sets came in silver or nikel plated (1917-18)

I have one that needs repair, I am looking for a better one ,time it just takes Time .
I really like the way they shave so it will be used . The one I have has a frown in the top cap.
I have messaged Cap and have set up to send it to Him for repair.

I want one also. It is the only razor on my “want” list. But it seems to me that certain people may be hoarding multiple examples of this wonderful razor. Therefore I may have to resort to another approach to acquiring one. Cat Burglary. No use in putting them in a safe. I’ve never met a safe I couldn’t crack. Better to just leave them out for me and if I’m feeling benevolent I may leave you one. Kidding of course. I’m patiently waiting for the day I find one in the wild or on the bay. Gillette could never improve upon perfection.

Well said @Jake, the Gillette Bulldog is a classy razor and my all-time favorite. I have 2, one in excellent condition in an Officers Military set, and one in very good condition with 100 year patina on it. One for using and one for looking at.
