Hi there, I have been wetshaving for a bit over 2 years. When I received my Merkur HD it came with a Merkur blade. Not knowing what I didn't know, but at least knowing that I needed to hone my technique, I kept with the same blade for all these years.
With regular youtube guidance from Mantic59, Theshockwav, the B&B forums, I decided it was finally time to test other blades. My first realization: the Merkur blade and me are not compatible!! I realized that with my first shave with a Gillette Russian Green. Wow, what a difference! Since then, I have tested the Derby, Astra SP/SS, Sharp, and Treet. The Gillette, to my surprise, was the standout blade for me: no irritation, no tugging/pulling, no razor burn, and really close and comfortable!
After testing more than a half-dozen blades, I would like to explore the Gillette line in more detail. Especially since the Russian Green was so good to me and it seems that the Russian Green is the least appreciated of the Gillette Blades.
For the past several days I have been looking for either a "pick n' choose/custom" blade sampler pack (where I can pay a set price and select specific blades to try) or find a good Gillette-only sampler pack (Russian Green, Yellow, Black, Silver Blue), but I have had no luck.
Does any one know of a company that provides either option? At the moment, I have a Razorsdirect shopping cart with 10-packs of the Green, Yellow, Black, and SB, but that's a lot of blades just to sample the Gillettes.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
