I have a nice fatboy, a slim, and a couple of the black Super Adjustables (both long and short handle) that I've been shaving with lately.

As I understand it, the super adjustables are basically a slim with a handle that's painted black. And the long-handle super adjustable is just the same only with a longer twisty end piece. Also, from the wiki here, it looks like the super adjustables aren't as aggressive on the higher settings as the slim/fatboy. Is that about right? Did I miss anything?

So far, I think I'm actually getting the best shaves from the long-handle Super Adjustable, and that's probably due to the length of the handle. I have big hands and it's just nice having something a little less stubby to hold on to while I'm shaving.

Is anyone else with me on this? It's just a little odd that a razor that has become one of my favorites is pretty much ignored on here. I have to conclude that maybe I'm just missing something.

Is it because the super adjustables were later production (60's and 70's) and are thus less collectible (though you wouldn't guess it given ebay's prices)? Is it because you want a more aggressive shave then they can give on the 9 setting? Is it because the later ones have a black plastic plate under the head instead of a metal one? Why do you like your fatboy/slim better?

I haven't tried a super adjustable so my choice is really between Slim and Fat Boy. The past few weeks I've gone with the Slim over my SS and HD. I find I really like the Slim. The longer, thinner handle is just more comfortable for me. I did give into the urge to pick up a Fat Boy, used it for 1 shave, then went back to the Slim. Inconsistent lather (due to my hard water) has been my biggest problem so I'm trying to stick with one razor and blade until I get my lather issues sorted out. For now it's the Slim.

Have both Slim and Fatboy.

Fatboy win, hands down.

And how comes there's no WWND choice on your poll? :001_smile

For shaving? Slim hands down.

I really, really, really want to love my Fatboy above all other razors, but I get better shaves from the Slim. I have a second Fatboy that hasn't been cleaned and sanitized yet. Perhaps, it will turn the tables.

I did a "week of adjustables" when nearing the end of my "theme week" shaving. Razors included a Toggle, two Fat Boys, three Slims and a long handled Super Adjustable.

TBH, I got great shaves from all, it'd be really hard to pick an overall winner. For coolness alone, it'd be the Toggle (reasonably rare, and unique). For the appearance, I'd go with the Fat Boy (really like the fatter feel in the hand too). The Slim is a great shaver, a beautiful design, and would probably get my overall vote (though I am abstaining, due to ambivelence :001_cool:). But the long SA is no slouch by any means, feels great in the hand too, and gives a really good shave. I'd say for my money, you can't go wrong with any of them!

I've never tried a super adjustable, but I do own a Fatboy and a Slim. I love them both, and it is hard to say. The short handle of the Fatboy initially put me off, but I enjoy its heft. It consistently gets me good shaves. The Slim is good to, and I love its longer handle. The Slim also gives me consistent shaves.

I've got two Fatboys, a Slim and a short Super Adjustable. I've got to try the Super, but up 'til now, the Fatboys win.

My Fatboy rules; I PIF'ed my Slim to a friend and my SA shorty is in my travel bag.

Plus, my Fatboy is the same age as I am- 48 years young.

Slim on 4 all day long for me. The Fatboy was good, but the taller head made it harder to maneuver in the tricky spots. Still a top-notch razor.

I have a Z1 long-handled Super, because it's my birth year. Not bad by any means, but it's a tad lighter than the Slim, and the long handle isn't as good for me as my H2 Slim.

I guess it really comes down to personal preference, as all three are nice shavers. The Mach 3 wishes it could be what these razors are.

Yeah, I've actually been looking for an X4 long-handled super for my birthyear but I've been unable to find one. :-/

I looked for a Black handled Super but did not find one for my birth year, So I am sticking with my Slim I was PIFd by one of the users here. I think it is going to be really hard to beat the Ranger Tech I picked up on the BST even with an adjustable.

My choice is a Toggle. It has the length of the slim, the weight of the fat boy, and a certain handling unique to the Toggle.

I don't own either, but think that I would rather use the slim because the handle seems longer than the Fat Boy. Less tendency to apply pressure with a longer handle.

I prefer a Fatboy because of the short, thick handle and the taller head profile. The geometry of the head causes it to be slightly more aggressive, to my face at least, on lower settings.

slim simply because I cannot justify owning a fatboy for the very little DE use my face sees. currently, I only use the slim for minor touch up or shaping after the straight does the work!
