Gillette #77 open comb

I bought one few weeks back from BST and its one of the great OC razor that I found. Very smooth. Anyone else have it? And how do you like it?

I've heard great things about it. I've got this one on the way:

The #77 and #88 are fantastic shavers. I use the three piece version of the head, on the left below, almost daily.

I find mine gives very good shaves.

The thin handle and relative light weight aren't the best features for me.

The British made open combs are all very well made and right in the sweet spot between efficiency and comfort.

After getting my hands on a #77 or #88, same razor depending on the package they came in, I searched out and found a three piece British New with a flat bottomed plate for use on beefier handles.

I believe the #77 may be the only two piece Gillette made with a retainer ring to allow the cap to be removed without allowing the knob to come out. If there are others I'd be interested to know which models. I see it as a design plus as the less pieces rolling around on a wet sink the better for me.

The Gillette New Traveler #4 set, #77, #88, and the Brit Bakelite Set all have two piece razors.

Two piece News are great shavers.

I'd never heard of that model either. The New DeLuxe heads are also great shavers. For me they are more aggressive than other New heads.

Now that's just something I didn't need to see pal. :glare:

How's a guy supposed to save up for the Holidays if he keeps seeing razors he can't live without?

Then you really don't want to see this...

... the British NEW Richwood. It's basically a heftier version of the No. 77/88 without the crimp to hold the inner barrel in. It's got the same British NEW head on a thicker handle, and tips the scales at 73g. As far as I know it's exceedingly rare.
