Gillette 7 O'clock

I believe they are made in different countries. They are not the same blades. Personally, I prefer the Yellows but like the Greens as well. You will see many different opinions.

Ok, ok...yes, JPM's correct. The green ones are made in India, the yellows in Russia. Never tried the greens, but they are generally regarded to be inferior to the yellos...GENERALLY, so YMMV. Inferior as in duller and less longer lasting, but who knows. The black ones made at the same plant in India are fantastic, and some claim they are better than the yellows...

There are 2 Green package 7 O'Clocks--one from India (permasharps) and one from Russia (Super Stainless). I like the Yellows the best followed by the Indian Green Permasharps and then the Russian Green Super Stainless.

eric.

I have the Yellows along with a bigger batch of Super Iridiums, and am beginning to wonder if I like the Yellows better. They are very close in sharpness and smoothness, and perhaps one is as long-lasting as the other. Haven't tried the other colors yet. And before someone complains about the "glue spots", I think that they are really wax, and I know that they are of no problem whatsoever to me in using the blades.

Your hot water must be hotter than mine! :001_huh:

Well, I scrape it off first with a spent blade, and I hand strop the blade, then I rinse under hot water...it's completely gone by that point. But even when there's residue on the blade itself, the hot water usually gets it gone.

I just got some Indian Wilkinsons and in each box are 4 wilkinsons and 1 black 7 O'Clock super platinum:blink:, are these the same blade???

Yes, the Yellows are a great blade. But just look at what is written above.
Is it sane that one has to got thru such a process to use a blade straight out of its wrapper :confused1:cursing:

The super platinum is the "black", and they are of course not the same as the Wilks, but made in the same plant. You got the black as a bonus. Gillette India hopes to convert you from the good and inexpensive Wilks, to the very good and very expensive blacks...

I couldnt notice a difference between yellow and green (Russian made) - both are the best blades i've tried.

Nah, it's not that big of a deal, nor is is very time consuming...I mean, I complete the whole process in less time than it took to type this. Besides, it's just part of the ritual for me anyway, especially the hand stropping. The alcohol bath isn't to remove the wax, it's to sterilize the blade (didn't mention that in my original post, but just prior to actually shaving I give it a dunk in some 91% isopropyl alcohol).
