I'm thinking about picking up nice D/E razor for my older brother's birthday. Can you guys give me some suggestions?


I believe his current razor is a new Merkur from Amazon. So I'm positive he would appreciate a vintage one.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think Gillette had started incorporating plastic into their razors by that time. In that case, my vote would be to find him a nice Gillette Slim Adjustable or a Gillette 195 (Fatboy).

+1 to an FB or slim then. By '83 the super adjustables did have the plastic bottom plate as rob74 pointed out (x marked razors from '77 onwards).

Not that I know of. Fatboys and slims are all metal and I don't recall seeing any posts about better/worse years.
