GFT creams

Anyone feel like they are a bit overrated/overpriced? I mean, don't get me wrong they are definitely good and I really like the scents, but as for performance I've found cheaper brands a bit better. After looking forward to trying their cream for so long, gotta say I'm a bit disappointed and wouldn't bother with them again.

I was fortunate enough to go to GFT's store just of Jermyn St this weekend, picked up some Spanish Leather shaving cream and have found it to be extremely good. It's a premium product, so it comes with a premium price. As with all things here, YMMV.

nope, but my experience is limited to the Coconut.

it's $30 shipped for a big 200g jar, lasts a long time and delivers excellent shaves.

it's a Winner in my den.

The Geo F Trumper line of creams are great; I have the Coconut and Violet. For me, they are top notch performers and have great scents.

They are in line, price wise, with some other high end creams (like T&H) and are significantly cheaper than some others (SMN or Aqui di Parma).

I will always have the Violet in my rotation.

I have the violet it smells amazing and produces an awesome lather. I have used the coconut as well and it is good but doesn't smell as strongly as I would like.

Maybe with all the talk here I just got my hopes up too much. I found EJ creams and DR Harris to be significantly better for cheaper...

I'm going off of west coast shaving prices but I don't see how DR Harris is cheaper. A tub of 150g DR Harris goes for 25. That'd be 33 for 200 grams. Tub of 200g GFT goes for 30.

I love me some Trumper's Coconut. I don't really think it's all that expensive.

Agreed, it can be had for less then $30 shipped (and that's as a stand alone product) and the tub is bigger then most. Also considering how little is needed, I also see it as a decent value, especially for how well it performs and smells.

As Bruce has said, it's top quality cream and if you purchase the tubs, they are truly packed. You get a HUGE amount of product. If you break it down that way it's not as over priced as it seems.

If you're just comparing container to container with multiple brands, but not taking into account the actual amount of product received, then yes it might seem that price is a bit high.

My experience with GFT creams is limited to the Eucris. I love the scent and how it works for me. I like the lather it makes slightly better than TOBS creams but not as good as DRH and T&H. I guess it's just one of those YMMV things. The price difference is not that big to stop me from buying it if I enjoy the cream.
