German creams?

I have the MOOS, I have the TABAC, what else has Germany to offer in the way of tubed creams?
I must say I am pleased with the performance of these two creams. Does it get better or is this the best they have to offer?

Nivea creams (Mild and Sensitive) are made in Germany, they're rarely talked about, but I can't remember anyone disliking it. Speick is also made in Germany, and it has quite a following here. Weleda is also made in Germany, I believe. And there is Mühle of course, scents are great, but performance is so-so. It's OK, but nothing special.

...and probably a couple more.

The above list is pretty much exhaustive. Another one to be mentioned is the Alverde cream. Ye be warned: stay well clear of this cream, I tried it in 2010 and it staunchly refused to lather although the instructions on the package say that you can use it with a brush.

Actually, some non-lathering creams can be used with a brush and even recommended to be applied with a brush. If directions state that a brush can be used, that doesn't automatically mean that the cream is lathering. I know it seems like a logical deduction and it's true 95% of the time, just saying.

Tabula Rasa does not come in a tube, but it is usually referred to as a cream (I think of it more as a soap FWIT). Until I discovered Mike's Natural Soaps, it was my favorite cream or soap.

I was just in Germany and came home with about 7 tubes of cream (It would have been more but I only had a carry-on size bag). Mostly Nivea and Palmolive as I found both for under a Euro per tube. Speick was a little more expensive at 3 Euros, but still very worth it. I brought that up because good shaving cream can be found pretty much anywhere there, and it is super cheap compared to what you can find in the US. I'm trying to find an excuse to go back so I can stock up on cream again

As an aside, I saw several Turkish barber shops giving straight edge shaves for a good price. The funny part was that most of them had tons on Arko displayed prominently in the window. I was very jealous of their shaving culture there.

Interesting... where have you been?

Nivea shaving cream is a no-brainer. Buy it - it's cheap, comes with a subtle smell and provides a great shave every time.
Same with the Palmolive. A bit on the floral side, but it's a dirt-cheap, excellent performer.
Balea cream can only be found in DM drugstores. Good cream with a very reasonable price. Nice aftershaves / balms in that range, too.
Florena is a traditional German drugstore brand with recently updated creams and balms. Worth a try if you can get it.
Speick, of course, is one of the best. Absolutely stunning cream - not as cheap (around 3 to 5 Euros), but once you try it you'll always have a tube in your den. Scent is a slightly medicinal, lavender-infused mix of herbs that's absolutely unique.

These are the ones I'd try to get.

The B&B Wiki lists only Speick as a German made cream.

However, because the soap manufacturers may now produce creams, here is the list of German soap manufacturers. Hopes this helps.

While not in the German category, Nuka and Kupa are two affordable, tubed creams from Bulgaria that seem to lather for days.

Off course it wasn't until I Googled Bulgaria and Germany that I realized that while they were both in Europe, they weren't particularly close.
