Gem Junior Plating

I recently bought this Gem Jr on-line. It is in overall good shape and the first gold tone razor that I have dealt with. Is there a safe way to polish? I have a tube of Maas that I can try but I assume it requires a very gentle touch. There is some discoloration that I can live with rather create more damage.

For gold razors that I want to keep the plating I just use soap, water, and a tooth brush and I take it easy on the scrubbing. I've had a few gold plated razors that the plating was already shot, it really doesn't take long or much effort to polish the gold off and leave them bare brass.
