GEM Clean-up

I just purchased some gem razors and was wondering the best wayto get the cleaned up and looking good. I am new to vintage safety razors, I have several vintage straights and a superspeed but these are my first GEMs

I have had good luck putting them in boiling water for 20 to 30 min. I use a cheap ultrasonic cleaner from harbor freight, just take one or two at a time and run them through a cycle for 3 to 10 min... does a pretty good job without chemicals. You can then polish or scrub to your hearts content after that. It greatly reduces detailing time.

I scrub with dish soap and a tooth brush, the I use a polishing cloth I got from Razor Emporium. After that, I let the head soak for 1/2 hour in 91% alcohol, just to be safe. If there are tough stains I use Barkeepers Friend.

Congratulations on the razor acquisitions. Don’t forget the obligatory photos of the acquisitions for us to drool over.
