GEM 1912 Open Comb

Found this rough looking 1912 OC today

Cleaned up really nice...these pics are after I gave it a shot of Scrubbin Bubbles and a quick wash.
I polished it with Flitz and a microfiber cloth after these pictures and it looks even better now

I found it in an antique store for $12..didnt know at the time it was rare'ish but did see it was a Damaskeen and thought the open comb was odd as I do have a "normal" 1912 Damaskeen
Its on deck for tomorrows shave

I'm guessing I didnt over pay, even though it looked pretty bad when I got it.
Hard to find any GEM history, I assume that the OC's were made before the closed comb, anyone know an approximate date that they made the OC's?

I believe the OC's were started in the 1930's but don't quote me.
