GD success!

Behold! My first modded (lightly) GD! It only took about a month of trial and error, but she is complete! It could use a little more sanding, but I'm happy with it :) Thanks to the kind folks who helped me through my bevel setting woes. I got it set, and then took it through my lapping films, finishing on a 1u on top of a page out of the phone book. She shaves!

GD 66 in acrylic scales, acrylic wedge w/ aluminum liner, brass pins and washers. Dremel + elbow grease

(borrowed the aluminum liner for the wedge from Seraphim--saw it, and knew I had to try it)

I really enjoyed the whole experience--I'm totally hooked. 7-day set, here I come!

Dremelled and rescaled Gold Dollar.....

Honed on lapping films......

It just doesn't get any better than this boys!

Love the look of a double pin at the wedge - very nice work.

I have two GDs on order, will be fun to give it a go - thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! They are truly appreciated :) I'm actually quite proud of how well it turned out considering that I kinda just dove into the deep end, figuring "Have dremel, why not?" All in all, a very satisfying project. I'm already planning the next one--something a little more ambitious this time though, now that I know I can gitter done :p. Just need moar GDs >:O Thanks for the inspiration B&B!

Best,
Scott
