Game Changer .76 compared to Lupo .58 or .72SB?

Does anyone have a GC78 and any of these Lupos? How do they compare? In typical B&B fashion I’m tempted to get a Lupo. I love my GC but if I’m being picky, I think I would prefer how the edge of the blade meets with the safety bar on the Lupo.

I’m leaning towards the 58 since according to IB it’s closest to the aluminum and because I tend to like more milder razors I think. Plus I’m more of a daily shaver to at most, 3-4 days.

Or I could just stick with the GC 76 since it might be in that “Goldilocks” territory for me.

Thanks!

I’ve got all three and can chime in. If the GC .76 feels like a Goldilocks razor for you then I’d recommend sticking with it, I’d suspect you could disappointed with both the Lupo .72 and the .58 if you’re hoping for a true replacement.

I actually really like all three razors, but for different reasons.

The Lupo .72 is going to be considerably more efficient and have more blade feel than the GC .76; the Lupo .72 actually edges out the GC .84 in both those departments in my opinion. It would be a great compliment to the GC .76 for the days you have more than 2-3 days growth, but it’ll likely feel too spicy for daily use.

The Lupo .58 is going to be on the other end of the spectrum; less efficient and less blade feel than the GC .76. That said I really really like the Lupo .58, probably more than I do the .72 or .95. The Lupos have a smaller and more nimble head design than the Game Changers, and I personally feel like the .58 is the only stainless steel Lupo that is safe enough to really take advantage of that. It’s probably my top pick for a smooth auto pilot razor. It’ll be a little redundant since you already have the GC .76 but it’s still an excellent choice if you’re looking for a mild and safe change of pace.

The Lupo Aluminum is probably in between the .58 and the .72 in terms of efficiency, and I’d say the .58 feels slightly more similar than the .72 does. It’s probably my favorite razor despite being aluminum and lighter. So try this one if you haven’t already.

I recently got a GC-78P plate to play with.

It's pleasant, but I think it's too mild compared with the GC-84P.

It took me several weeks to acclimatise to the lovely .84, so why not try that?. It might be your true Goldilocks Zone.
I’ve actually had the .84 and it was too much for me for daily shaves. Sometimes I even think the .76 might be too much. I’m thinking the Lupo .58 might be that true Goldilocks for me.

I'm thinking of picking up a Lupo DC as it really appeals to me with the .72 oc/.95 sb sides, can it shave at a shallower angle? Would it be suitable for daily shaving as that is my regular routine?

The DC was sold out when I was on my initial shopping spree, but I do have the .72OC and the .95SB separately. Fantastic razors but both were a little too spicy for me to use daily. And I had the most success with both riding bar at a steeper angle.

Which other razors are you using for daily shaves?

I use razorrock Sloc and hawk v3 standard, with Kai milds, shick prolines and Kai protouch, but the lupo dc has peaked my interest hardcore.
Swing for it. I think the worst case is that it'll be too much for daily use, but you already have other options to switch to on back-to-back days, so it's not that much of a downside. I personally wouldn't use the .95SB or .72OC more than once a week, but I don't mind because I have other milder razors to turn to for the other days.

Ya I'm seriously considering taking the chance on it, as it's value and huge reputation for that line of razors is hugely popular in the community. It just seems like it would tick alot of boxes for me, but I'm also having a slightly hard time on choice making due to wanting to test a blackbird and an osprey, so I guess this is the hill I'm stuck on. Buy it now since it's super good value and affordable, or test the blackland options first and proceed from there.

I can’t speak on the Blackbird or Osprey as I haven’t tried them yet, but I haven’t read about anyone flat out preferring the Lupo to either of them. That said, the Lupo’s a fantastic value like you mentioned; it’s more the half the cost of the Blackbird and there’s just no way the Blackbird is a full twice as good. Plus it’s easy to pick up more base plates to have more options; if you do get the DC, I’d probably recommend throwing in the .58 as well for a mild change of pace. I’d like to try the Blackbird one day, but I’m pretty content with my fleet of Game Changers and Lupos for the time being.

ya , in terms of cost i'm not sure the blackbird at almost 3 times the price is that much better per se, but i'm salivating at the idea of trying it one day, along with an osprey . The Lupo DC however just seems like a smart value pick up, and your .58 base plate idea might just be totally genius! I have some stuff to think about man dangit haha

I originally ordered the Game Changer .84SB to replace how I was using the Rockwell 6C plate-4, and then caught the RazoRock bug. I now have the Game Changer .68OC, .76SB, .84SB and Lupo .58SB, .72SB, .72OC, .95SB, Aluminum. Not proud of my impulsive shopping spree, but I do love having all the options.

You sir are a man of bloody good tastes and I admire the recklessness you have had, to buy the bulk of stuff from RazoRock that you have in spades! I'm quite possibly gonna grab the Lupo dc and the .58 maybe, once bills are paid , and my motorcycle is out of the shop and running again. I also like knowing the lupos can shave shallow as thats my preferance for my skin.

I don’t want to bring myself to do the math on it, but I probably could have purchased an Osprey instead of my RazoRock collection lol. I do like having options however; I feel like I’ve got a razor for any possible shave I’d be looking for on any day.

Plus, the folks at RazoRock are solid and a pleasure to do business with; Michael’s responded to each and every one of my emails within minutes.

I also have an aluminum Hawk V2 on the way to play around with as well.

Thats true, you have alot of options, and ya Michael is great to do business with and such a nice person on top of it. I am still on the fence about a blackland razor, odds are I will at least try one before I make any commitments to anyone

You should also try and spring for a Hawk V3, either standard or A plate, great value for an AC format and it's a nice mild shaver, and could be a step up from your hawk v2 you're currently grabbing!
