Gabels Aftershave

I haven't been able to find many reviews at all on this stuff. They apparently make a few; lilac, lime, bay rum etc. Has anyone here tried them? I'm kind of curious how the lilac smells in particular (being a chosen one of The Veg and all that). Also, are they related to another company, such as Master and Lustray are related to Pinaud?

I use the Gabel's Sta-Cool aftershave and I like it a lot. Not a lot of scent but a lot of cooling. Not as much cooling as Osage Rub, but you can tell it has some menthol in there. I also use it as an astrigent since my face gets real greasy in summer, and I can squirt some on a cotton swab and wipe my face and get a nice cooling effect.

I can't help on the other Gabel's frags. I got my Sta-Cool at Appleton Barber Supply, which I highly recommend as a vendor. They also sell Stephan products and other good barbershop scents like Master and Clubman.

I found a new barber supply place the other day that had SO MUCH stuff, including all of the Gabel's line. I had already bought their bay rum (very good) and their lilac aftershaves, so this time I picked up the original Gabel's aftershave and their hair tonic. Both are very nice, almost like Skin Bracer without the menthol. I also found one I hadn't even heard of, Lucky Tiger Skin Care After Shave. It contains menthol. I tried some of that last evening and it has a very different, but nice aroma. They also had a few bottles of Lucky Tiger Rose Hair Tonic, which I understand was discontinued several year ago.

I've got the lime, and it's a good, straight up lime. Cheap and cheerful, and good for mixing with other stuff when the mood strikes.

I have the bay rum. Its a pint bottle, so its gonna last a while. Good cheap barber shop style bay rum; not much sting, dries leaving the face nice and soft. I'd love to try the Gabel's lilac based on what I have read here on B and B, but last spring I bought a bottle of Stephan's Lilac, which at 14.5 oz is also going to last a good long while, and that will have to be lilac enough for me.
