Futur-Slim Combo

I've been at this now for almost a year and I love everything about it except the fact that I can't get a good shave on my upper lip area with my Merkur Futur. I have been getting perfect shaves from my Gillette Slim, but once I got used to the heft of the Futur, it's tough to like anything else as much. Regardless, this combo, works for me. I've been simplfying the whole process- this might seem a bit much. but it;s the only thing that works for me, taking me to true shaving nirvana.

Are you saying that you shave 95% of your face with the Futur and then swap the blade over to the Slim to finish your upper lip? I have not shaved with a Futur, but is the cap too long (wide) so that it doesn't allow you to shave at 90 degree angle and get at all that stubble under your nose?
That is a difficult region to reach..

I do a 3 pass shave wtg, xtg, atg. When I get to the mustache area I reach for the Slim instead of the Futur. The head of the futur is too big to get the hair under my nose and it's too aggresive for an area, at least for me, that is more sensitive then the rest of my face. But this combo has yet to leave me with a less than perfect shave.

I find that my Futur is quite capable of completing the job on my upper lip on an ATG pass. It's just a matter of rolling my upper lip to stretch the skin.

+1. On my upper lip I do WTG then XTG x 2 (Nose to ear and vice versa - leading with the tip to get right up under the nose).

Yeah, spot under the nose is the toughest area to get down in terms of technique for the Futur. It is do-able, but takes a fair amount of practice & face contorting. I still occasionally nick my nose/nostril if I'm not real careful.

Get your self an injector. It fits nicely under the nose and makes quick work of the area above the lip.
