What's new

Funk?, what funk?!

This has been lingering on my mind for a little bit. i own a few brushes. I own a couple of shavemacs (#177) and a I just purchased a new Kent 2009 LE silvertip in ebony. Now, I have seen a few posts regarding that "funky" smell that can possibly happen when recieving an animal product. This is even mentioned in Mantic's video. I my self own a few brushes and I have never ever smelled anything funky. Why do people's brushes smell funky? Does this only apply to a few brands and not others? Just wondering.

Also, when I get a new brush I dont wash it with animal shampoo and what not cause they smell fine and are usually ready to use.

I dunno I thought my first brush smelled a little ripe when I got it. I guess it's just a matter of which nose is smelling it.

My EJ badger brush had a bit of smell to it, but it really wasn't that unpleasant. I wouldn't buy a cologne that smelled of fresh brush, but it didn't bother me either.

Brushes are made of natural products that came from living animals, so there's a huge variation between individual brushes.

I've only had one stinker brush, and it nearly killed me. Took about 4 shaves before the stench stopped making my eyes water.
