What's new

Full disclosure: I am an unabashed NEWdist!

The first few months of DE shaving are hectic and fraught times. RAD sets in early and takes control of your life. you wish you could shave five times a day just to try out each new razor you meet. But the more razors I try, the more I realize that I am ready to make a serious commitment. No beauty queens for me! My humble little $6 Gillette NEW LC is my one and only*. You're first in my rotation, baby! I'm saying it loud and proud for the world to hear. You're the best that ever was! I love you. I am a NEWdist.

Feels good to get that off my chest.

*this is not to say I can't test drive a sexy little number from time to time. Nothing serious. I'm only human. What?

Very funny post, the New is definitely a great razor, I prefer the short comb version, I can't commit to only being a Newdist for every shave, I suppose I am only an occasional Newdist. Glad you found your one and only. Newdism, lol.

Does this call for a BOND - Brotherhood Of NewDists?

My first NEW has yet to arrive, I have ordered it a couple of days ago.

No beauty queens for me!

Send it off to one of the established replaters (i.e. NOT the emporium) and it will be as shiny and sexy as any of the sporty models. Add a heavier handle from another 3 piece razor, and it can be your very own Eliza Doolittle.

I love this thread and i cannot bear (or should I say "bare"?) to see it languish unseen by all B&Bers.

My excuse for the revival is to report on my latest NEWdist shave:
I broke out my #77 / #88, loaded it with a Personna Med Prep and went to town. The shave was near-BBS, but significantly lower than my expectations. I often use a UK raised flat bottom NEW head on a heavy stainless handle (e.g., iKon Bulldog). The #77 uses the same head, but it is attached to the handle, so you can't use after-market handles.
I was surprised by how much I missed the heavy handle. I still love my #77, but its relatively light handle is a noticeable drawback.
For reference, here is Mr. Razor's page on the #77:

In any event, I encourage everyone to go NEWdist some time soon!

I knew it, after stewing about buying a New, I finally queued up and blew the money saved for the stew, and now someone calls me a Newdist! I'll be in deep dew dew should Sue find out about my New. Perhaps if I sit in the pew I'll keep out of the zoo, that is until the next time a buy a new New. Whew!
