Front yard Tree?

I like the Ginko tree. Our city is offering them as an option now.
They are late to bloom and the last to shed. They are also not a really common tree so a nice variety as well.

They are very stately indeed. Make sure you get a male, the fruits of the female can be messy and they have a foul smell.

Oh, I don't know - a fine specimen is quite handsome, which makes them a really good tree for someone else's yard.

Ok, I should point out some positive comments on the Catalpa tree, if only it wasn't overhanging my driveway and too close to my house for comfort.

- it does provide a lot of shade in summer. It's on my east side and keeps morning and early afternoon sun from heating up my house. It would be even nicer for afternoon sun on my south or west side.
- it does attract a lot of wildlife. I hung a bird feeder on a branch overhanging my yard one year and saw loads of goldfinches, blue jays, cardinals, woodpeckers, finches, nuthatches and other birds that I haven't seen before or since I took the feeder down.

The male trees are a really nice variable to the norm.
