Free Sample Reviews from Shaving Creams.com - Billy Jealousy, Jack Black

I received some free samples from Shaving Creams.com last week. And while single or double use samples aren't really enough to get a really firm grasp on a product's pros and cons, I'm glad to give my initial impressions.

First, Billy Jealousy Liquid Sand Exfoliating Facial Cleanser. My first reaction was that this stuff was weak. I use Jack Black's menthol face scrub a few times a week, and it has far more abrasives, and the kick of menthol. It struck me as neither really a cleanser, nor an exfoliator. It seemed to cleanse well enough, and sort of exfoliate, but I was not impressed by either. Then I read the product description on the website, and that is exactly what the product is supposed to be:

"To scrub or to wash?" In response to the question plaguing mankind since at least 2003, Billy Jealousy proudly unveils a demonstrable solution. Less penetrating than a scrub but more powerful than a face wash,

So given the intention, the product does, indeed, hit the mark. One use revealed nothing troublesome about the product, no irritation or anything negative, and it seemed to be, indeed, midway between an exfoliator and a cleanser.

The second sample I received was another Billy Jealousy product, Combination Code Face Moisturizer. Here's the thing with facial moisturizers... you really need to use them for a week or more to get an idea of their usefulness. With that though, I will say that from the sample I was able to use, there was minimal greasiness, it absorbed reasonably well, and had a pleasant and mild scent.

I probably wouldn't buy either of these products, though. Even though they both were perfectly acceptable, I HATE the product name and logo. A poor reason to purchase something else? Yes. But with so many good products to choose from, it's really of no consequence. IMO, the name and the logo are just stupid. The chinese tribal dragon tattoo is very 1994, and the name just irritates me. And that's about all I have to say about that.

The third sample I received was Jack Black's pure clean daily face cleanser.

Again, hard to gauge with just a small sample, but I got two uses out of it, and it left my face feeling fresh, slightly cool, and left no irritation any negatives to speak of. I liked the scent as well, mild and clean. This one I would probably buy for myself, or at least put it on a list for Christmas and father's day presents from the kids...

Thanks to Shavingcreams.com for the samples, I enjoyed trying them out.
