What's new

Free honing until the end of the summer

I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while and now that I have a little more free time on my hands and to celebrate getting some new stones, I can finally give back to the forum. I am offering free honing or touch up services to new members or for members who just want to see what a different hone person can do with their razor. I am not sure how much response I will get, so I’m going to say I will do 5 per week.

Qualifications: No restoration work, ebay specials, chipped blades, or the like (ie the blade should not be so dull as to not cut anything); limited to one blade per person. And finally, I ask that feedback be posted in this thread or pm’d; good or bad.

What you need to do: Email me at [email protected], if the que is not full, I will send you my address, and after you ship the razor paypal me the shipping cost plus a dollar to cover expenses along with a your address and a note describing your razor, or you can put a $5 with the razor. I will return the razor in the same method as it arrived. OFFER AVAILABLE ONLY IN USA. I’m sorry, but standing in the long lines is not fun.

Basically any cheap ebay razor that has more rust than shine, or edges so ragged that you could mistake them for a breadknife.

This is a very generous offer. I'm sure you will have the 5 people a week asking about it .

So what are these new hones you speak of?

I am interested but the blade I have has an incredibly small nic in it. Less than a quarter of the bevel. Would this qualify?

Incredibly generous offer. I have a razor that I bought recently at a estate sale. The razor is in very good condition but is dull as can be. I might have to send this thing to you!! Thanks for offering your services to B&B members like this. Could you PM me your address if you have any spots available.

Kind regards,
Billy

New set of Naniwas. And I got a Shapton 16, but its not here yet.

Mmm Naniwa. Did you get the 12k Naniwa? If so do you have a Chinese 12k to compare it to? I love the C12k but a faster cutting version of it might always be nice.

What are you going to lap the Shapton 16k with?

I hate the 12k, cuts even slower than the Spyderco UF.

Sending a razor leighton's way, will report back when I get it and shave with it.

BTW- It will be my first attempt with a straight...

Put my name in the hat, please. I have been using straights for a short time and would like a sharp edge to compare to. I have bought a "shave ready" straight from this forum, but am not sure that it is a sharp as it maybe should be based on descriptions I am reading.

Anyway, generous offer, and thanks.

I want to get in on this, but need to wait until some time in jully as I publically made the statement that i will not be buying any new shaving equipment until jully 18th. I do have a couple old straights, but one of them has a chip in it.

I have a 7/8 Friodur and I'd love to see what happens to it on those hones. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send it your way.

Thanks for your generous offer!

Please read the instructions. I can't keep track of everything through the pm system here.

Either case, this week's que is full; I'll open it up again next week Monday and we'll see if I can handle more than 5.
