Frankenrazors

I recently found a Tech style razor that cought my eye. The handle is a 1094 style gillette yet the head seem to be home made. I really liked the handle so I bought it, for around $12.00, and then purchased a plastic handle Gillette Tech. (The tech is my favorite) I took the head from the Gillette and it screwed in purfectly with the 1904 handle. While it is not exactly like an original 1904 Gillette it does have an old look to it and it shaves great. It got me to thinking, just how many Frankenrazors are out there and what combinations have been tried. Any thoughts?

The handles, and heads of the Tech's/ Olds/ and News are all Interchangeable.

In fact, due to a design flaw in the Ball End Handle used on the Gillette Old's and Gillette New's, these handles developed cracks. Thus many of those razors have had their handles replaced by a Ball End/ Fat handle for a Tech.

I have the Frankenrazor on the left in this photo.
It is a Gillette Old Type head mated to a very sturdy handle of some unknown type. Makes for a good razor though

I have 1 as well, a tech handle with the head being totally wrong but it shaves great, it also came in an aristocrat box so its all wrong:smile:

I like to put my Merkur 1904 heads (both open comb and straight bar) on a fat Tech handle. Nice matchup of nickel plated handle and heads and nice shaves.
