That was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I really like the everyday head with the neutral blade exposure. With the heavy magnum handle I did feel the blade more then the last time I used the everyday level.

I still do prefer the normal lighter handle but I could get used to this magnum. With the way this shave felt now I want to find a copper level 1 bottom plate to match up with the magnum handle.

One Blade in February Challenge

Razor: Muhle R89 Rosegold
Blade: Personna Med-Prep(5)
Brush: Yaqi Moka-Express 2 band badger
Soap: EJ Limes and Pomegranate

Tonight Limes and Pomegranate was back for another round with the Moka-Express. I am finding this soap very finicky when it comes to how much water it needs. I often find myself having to adjust the water, but the best way I have found to do it is to overload with the soap and add the water a dribble at a time testing until it reaches the right consistency.
Unfortunately with this being a 3rd tier soap with the R89 the finish was only a DFS+, but that is good enough and I don't expect more of the EJ soap.

Tonight, I loaded the Gillette Goal Super Platinum (5) into my Razorock Lupo 72 with a barbershop handle. I face lathered Derby using the Yaqi Mysterious Space. Derby is almost as good as ARKO! With the Lupo, there was a lot of blade feel. A good close shave.

Notes to today’s shave:

Perhaps against better judgment, but the Tiger got paired today with the R41 for a sixth (and during the shaving apparent) and final run. The R41 tamed the Tiger into performance, but the previous 5 shaves already took the edge off the blade and its performance was sub standard for me. It got the job done, but by the time I did the third pass I had the idea that no matter how much 0strokes and buffing I would do, stubble would remain. So the end result was a mere SAS on the neck and chin, and CCS- on cheeks and upper lip. Still - no weepers, cuts or nicks and it was even more comfortable in the R41 as opposed to the Flatboy. I think I will use OBiF to experiment which razors work best with this razor. I already have a good handle on the vintage Gillettes (who all make the Tiger perform, with the NEW Improved and NEW Flat Bottom delivering BBS shaves) and for February and SWS I have selected a number of razors that have never met the Tiger yet, including my beloved Ti95.

Very nice shave today. The Everyday I could use everyday. Now to do some research on some items I found yesterday at my family's old farm house we're cleaning out.

Damp washcloth aka “shave binky”
Simpson Wee Scot 13mm badger brush
Pre-shave: hot shower followed by about two minutes waterboarding with shave binky
Lather: Wickhams 1912 Club Cola Soap, hand-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky
Post-shave: olive oil

Hand-lathered to reduce scritch. Adding cold water to lather wasn’t as refreshing when face-lathering as expected. Knowing a shave with a Micromatic Open Comb was about to commence, my hands must’ve been ablaze with anticipation. Off-putting, truly, but the great shave I had was worth creeping out myself.

Back to face-lathering tomorrow. With a Wee Scot, it’s only a little scritch anyways.

Monday, 6th Feb'23

Razor: Karve Christopher Bradley 'C' plate
Blade : Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Platinum black (6)
Brush: Shavemac 2-band silvertip
Soap : Cella red kilo block
After Shave: Nivea Aftershave lotion.

Changed the razor to the Karve CB with the SB C plate. I guess the added rigidity would help protect the blade edge as it cuts the stubble firmly. The CB 'B' and 'C' plates are in the Goldilocks zone for me. An excellent 2-pass shave with well hydrated Cella lather. The blade has not lost its sharpness yet.
