Fountain Pen desk sets

I wonder if anyone in Nibville has/uses/collects fountain pen desk sets. I won this on the big auction site and am in the process of flushing out the pens and taking it apart to assess the condition of the pli-glass sacs. I do a lot of writing at my desk and it's a pretty good way of getting a pair of 51's at a decent price. Any hints or tips in getting these beauties ready for regular action?

I have a couple of Esterbrook Dip-less sets (Model #444) sitting on my desk here at work. Great for taking a quick note. Always accessible and easier to use than having to uncap a fountain pen.

I have one of the Esterbook 444's as well... awesome desk pen for jotting down things down.

Looked at them but the shipping prices on the auction site tend to be high so I never bid on one. If I find one in the wild I would probably pick it up for the right price. Less chance of losing a pen.

Well, there IS a tried-and-true method, but it is very labour intensive and takes a long, long time.

But I'll do you a favour and take care of it for you. Just send me the set and I'll send it back to you when I'm done with the process, in about a decade or so. You just pay return shipping.

Can't say fairer than that!!

Well, Doc, I can't argue about the fairness in that! But due to the weight of the marble base I'll have to send it by snail mail. Make sure you stay close to your mailbox because you never know when it'll be delivered. If it's like some of the stories we hear, it could take several years, even decades, to get there...:001_tt2:

I have an esterbrook 444 set on my desk too. Like others said it is great for jotting down some quick notes or even an extended memo, if it runs dry a quick dip gets it going again.
