For those that use Bump Patrol

I'm a black guy who gets razor bumps; looking to improve my post shave experience for best results. Here's my post-shave regimen:

1. warm rinse
2. cold rinse
3. bump patrol (sensitive formula)
4. wait 5-10 mins
5. Shea butter

Should I do anything else....

I don't have this problem, but a friend of mine brushes his beard area with a stiff boar brush to combat ingrowns. One of Mantic's videos describes doing the same thing with a toothbrush.

Thanks. I definitely follow mantics advice on the ingrowns. I mentioned that and my race for some context.

May I ask what your post shave regimen is?

Sorry, for clarity, he does the brush thing before he shaves.

No, actually it would be sometime after I shaved: brush with the toothbrush as soon as you see the raised bump from an ingrown and then again before bedtime. It might be necessary to repeat for several days (at bedtime).

Thanks for the replies.

Perhaps, I should've written my OP better.

I'm just looking for the right combo w/ bump patrol of post shave steps, strategies to get the best feeling and looking face.

I'm comfortable w/ my current results. I'm just wondering if I should up the ante and add something else for superb results!

I also use a toothbrush to help lift the ingrownharis from the skin. I do a routine at night which includes brushing my skin, washing my face with Neutagena Glycerin soap, rinsing with cold water, rubbing alum block over my skin, rinsing again with cold water, and applying Neutragena Post Shave Lotion. In the morning, I shower, wash my face, lather with a combination of Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap and Speick Cream, shave 2 passes, rinse with hot, rinse with cold water, rub alum block over face, rinse again with cold water, and apply moisturizing shave balm.

I only shave two passes and stay away from ATG shaving. I shave everyday, as I found skipping days allows the hair to grow out, curl and grow in again. I use sharp blades and don't try to milk a blade's longevity. Remember, to shave without pressure and under no circumstances stretch the skin. Skin stretching leads to INGROWN HAIRS!!!! consider using an alum block. It is an excellent antiseptic without the drying properties of anything containing alcohol.

It is extra work when you have a beard that curls, but the extra care should result in better looking skin.

Hope this helps. Good luck and enjoy your shaves!!!
