I've used both the Signature and Replenishing Nancy Boy creams and while I preferred the latter, I didn't have any reaction to the former... and I have to be fairly careful about what I use.

Trumpers Coconut, two of TOBS creams. No soap has irritated me yet. If you have sensitive skin I highly suggest soaps.

Trumpers coconut burnt me just a touch, too. That kind of bummed me out since it smells so nice. Also, rose scented from both Trumpers and ToBS. I've also never had a problem with any soap. Or any other creams for that matter, though I gave up trying the creams. Just those 2 scents. I know other people are sensitive to different things, and a lot more sensitive than me. As jazzguy says, this is definitely a YMMV thing.

I've experienced some slight burning from TOBS sandalwood and Razorock classic; however, it hasn't lead to irritation afterward, just an unpleasant feeling while shaving.

Funny, I have never had a problem with AOS unscented. However, the one cream I can always rely on is T&H Ultimate Comfort.

Kiss My Face is probably the least offensive cream on the market as far as allergic reactions go.

Give their unscented a try. At $5 a tube it is a no brainer

Cella makes my face burn. I think its a crying shame 'cause it makes such a nice lather. This is really a YMMV thing as each of us is so different. If you are prone to irritation, you should probably go the sample route to find what works well and then stick to a stable of known winners.

I'll be the pessimist and state that you won't find your pattern. I haven't been at this for very long, but long enough to know that words like "sensitive", "hypoallergenic" really mean nothing. You can't trust a "sensitive skin" cream to not irritate you. To found that statement, I have a reaction to T&H Ultimate Comfort, which is simply a contradiction.

Don't get hung up on labels. You will miss out on a lot of products usable for you, and if you trust the label blindly you might not figure out what is actually causing irritation.

You had issues with Trumpers Coconut? And which TOBS cream? I find Trumpers coconut to be very very soothing on my face, more-so that most other creams designed for sensitive skin. Perhaps its an allergy to the coconut?

Perhaps the ultimate YMMV is whether a cream or soap will irritate someone.

Avoid Coates Tea Tree and Rosemary (now discontinued). Burns like hell and I don't consider myself to have sensitive skin!

OTOH I find Trumper almond and Salter almond to both be very soothing

I absolutely agree that you shouldn't get hung up on statements like sensitive and hypoallergenic - they are marketing methods. As a side note there is no such thing as Hypoallergenic - nothing on the face of this earth won't cause an allergic reaction to someone, somewhere. Okay maybe not oxygen, but you get my gist.... :a46:

Just as an aside even if real, organic, unrefined coconut oil is used (it's the only one with a scent) the fragrance will not come through. Since there is no such thing as a coconut essential oil when you smell coconut it is a fragrant oil. Also unless they are using a whitener like titanium dioxide, which can be a skin sensitizer, the soap will be brown because of the amount of vanilla in it, which is brown... :wink2:
