Flatening a stone idea

I have a man made stone that is very hard, it is two shades of gray. It was slightly dished.

I tried flattening the stone on concrete blocks. Progress was slow.

Then I remembered people on this forum use some sort of grit...

I looked at the yard, which is largely sand, and said, "self, why not try some sand on the block".

It worked!

I thought I would pass the idea along in case it helps someone. It worked for me, it might work for you.

I've used sand before to flatten a quartzite hone. It worked but SIC is faster... sand is cheaper.

An abrasive grit for lapping compounds and pastes (carborundum), and sanding products Like wet/dry papers.

SiC is for silicon carbide

Rose to the occasion
I've used white, silica sand and concrete to lap carborundum's, india's and really banged up arks. Great for heavy work before going to SiC.
