Flair Tip Superspeed Question...

Hello All, Recently I acquired a Flair Tip Superspeed and found that, when I put the blade in it, one side of the blade looks slightly more exposed than the other . Is this normal ? or something needs to be adjusted ? or it's just my eyes ?

It should DEFINITELY be even.
You may have a bent guard bar.
Hold the razor and look at it straight on, the bar under the blade should be level on both sides.
Look from the top, the bar should be exposed the same on both sides, from one end to the other.

The following is a post about adjustables, but the same theory applies;

Can you post pics of different views?

hmmm...
most blades slide longways a little (not on the cutting sides) Which way are you describing?

Thank you all for the input. Here are the pics and excuse my poor photography skills. To my eyes, it looks like the B side blade is more exposed. What do you guys think ?

My SuperSpeeds seem to have even exposure for the most part. You can always try shifting the blade a bit to make the exposure even before you tighten the doors down all the way.

I'm not seeing it mate, sorry.
That looks to me like the normal exposure within tolerances of blade manufacturing.
Don't take my word alone, let some others chime in here.
Have you tried loosening the doors and pushing the blade toward the A side, then re-tightening?

I think I see a bit more of the blade under the B door, but the more important dimension would be the distance from the blade to the safety bar. These look identical. Your doors appear from the third photo to be aligned properly. If I may ask a silly question, did you try a different blade? I don't see enough of a problem to explain a bad shave. Perhaps a shave using A on your left side and B on your right will ease your concerns.

Yes. I tried a different blade too (red personna. photo is with the feathur). I guess I can just start shaving with it and see if there would be any difference with each side.

From what I can tell, in the top-down view it looks like the blade sticks out farther on the B side than the A side. However, in the angled shots, it looks like there is more room between the blade and the bar on the B side than the A side. This is contrary to what I would expect if the blade was loaded unevenly.

My guess is one of the bars was bent and readjusted somewhere along the line. That's purely speculation, though, and I may very well be wrong. If it shaves well, use it. If not, don't. But I'd recommend using the Personnas when you test it. If it is messed up, the Feathers will be far more punishing.

Good luck!
