Fixing a ding on the edge

This might have been covered somewhere, but I couldn't find it from searching.

I am relatively new to straight shaving. I've been doing it exclusively for months, but I still feel like I don't really know what I'm doing.

I "dinged" the edge of my Dovo. I think I banged it against the faucet. There is now an indentation along the edge, which makes it unsuitable for stropping because it will scratch the leather. I was about to send it off to be honed, is this something they could fix? Would this cost extra?

Its something they could fix...but it depends on the depth of the ding as to whether it wil cost more. If its a pretty deep divot, (means considerably more hone time to get the entire edge back to normal) a honemeister might charge more...if its small, probably wouldn't cost more than a touch up.

Do you have pictures? I think it's generally fixable, depending on how big the dent is.

Most dings are fixable but pictures would help. It will probably cost you a few dollars over and above a standard honing fee due to the extra work to get the ding out.

It might also be worth moving to a sponge to clean you blade.

I can't post any pictures at the moment, because my SO and I share a camera, and she is in Europe for business for a couple of months, with the camera.

The ding is in the middle of the edge.
