Five Guys VS In-N-Out Burger

I have heard a lot of praise for 5 Guys Burgers and Fries and will have to give it a try one of these days. However when I want my USDA of Grease, I crave In-N-Out Burger. For those of you who have tried both 5 Guys and In-N-Out, which do you prefer and why? Who would win in a throw-down?

Maybe a better question would be who has the better bumper sticker. Those "In and Out Urge" bumper stickers were pretty popular in the 80s. Not sure if they still are.

Humm, these must be chain stores that haven't made it here yet .. perhaps even the chains are feeling the heat? Or perhaps they haven't invaded yet due to our 30% unemployment rate? Or regional?

Never heard of either place

I've had both. They are both very good. I like In-N-Out just a little bit more (animal style burgers and fries, mmm) In-N-Out is found in the west (CA), and 5 guys is found more in the east, although I've seen a couple out here in the west.

I'm a huge In-N-Out fan. Sadly I live in Illinois. Anyway, Five Guys isn't even in the same league in my opinion. In-N-Out is pretty much my first stop when I travel to a place that has them. Five Guys didn't impress me at all.

I've never heard of Five Guys. As a hamburger aficionado, I'll have to check them out.

If I could only eat at one restaurant for the remainder of my life, the choice would be easy: In 'n Out. Quality you can taste.

I have had both but, since I live on the East coast, Five Guys are more readily available. That being said, I was in Cali over the summer and In-N-Out is a required stop. They are far less greasy and you cannot get bacon on them at all.
If they were both available to me in the same town ... aaarrrgggh!!!!

In-N-Out.

I've never had the opportunity to have a burger from In-N-Out, so I can't make a comparison, but no bacon?!?!?!

Never heard of neither one. Must be further west and north then here.

I prefer my burgers grilled at home though. It can really be taken up a notch when you choose just what flavors your adding to your meat. Grilled over charcoal, and then toasting up those buns. choosing what cheeses, toppings, and sauces you will use. The great american sandwich.

OMG! In-N-Out is my favorite food on Earth! I'd pass up a steak dinner for a #1 any day!
(I actually have passed steak houses for I-n-O burgers.)
Thank God the nearest one is 30 miles away. If they were closer, I'd be a candidate for a quad bypass within a year.
Scooterman, the burger fan...

I know! Right?
I can make a better burger at home if I want to put in the work, but the whole point of these two great burger places is not having to do it at home ... and avoiding the cleanup.
Has anyone here ever had a burger from Fuddrucker's or Red Robin?

I've never heard of In-and-Out bugers but if Andrew says their good then I will take In-and-Out please...

What!?! Traitor!

I've had both and they are totally different. A double double hits the spot after some beers, 5 guys is more of a lunch or after work dinner spot. I love them both.

I&O burgers are fantastic (animal fries are damn good too). Since I'm on the East Coast and we have no I&O, I begrudgingly enjoy Five Guys, they're good, but a notch below I&O, IMO.

anyone try blakes lotaburger? or is anyone else a fan of the green chile burger?

I went to school in Santa Fe, and I'm planing on moving back some day just for the burgers!:001_wub:

as far as the thread goes, In and Out all the way!
