First try at a restoration - Maid Rite #12

I found a good looking maid rite #12 in an antique shop today. I have the know out and have wet sanded it and polished it with plastic polish and she is looking good.

I have measured and it appears to take a 19mm knot. I will probably set a 20mm after some sanding.

Can anyone give me the original specs on this model. any other information or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Original specs on most vintage brushes is pretty much a good guess. These were cheap, everyday items, and no one paid much attention to them.

Here is a before and after. I removed the old knot. Enlarged the hole and set a TGN synthetic 22mm knot. Loft is 51 or 52mm. Brush feels great. Very soft with some backbone. Makes a great lather. No complaints. First picture is before, second pic is the finished product. I am please with the outcome but learned a lot in the process. Please comment and critique. Thanks.

Looks good. I just picked up the exact same brush on eBay and am waiting for it to arrive. Now I know what it should look like when I'm done.
