First Tobs in the post

Hi all have my first tobs cream in the post and I've gone for rose.

Have used gft rose in the past but found it wasn't as lubricating as Crabtree and Evelyn nomad or my favourite aos sandalwood. I choose tobs as its so much cheaper than the others and after trolling some posts found tobs well reviewed.

any thoughts on whether this was a wise buy.
? And what I should expect?

If you like rose scents you've done well. I had. Tub a while back and thought it was a quality cream with an outstanding rosé scent. Sadly for me, I was never a huge fan of rose scents so I did t feel the need to replace. Enjoy pour purchase.

I actually just purchased ToBS Almond cream, unfortunately it is on back order... But I did have a question about what everyone uses for aftershave or pre-shave oil with a ToBS cream? I've been using TAoS products which makes it easy, so any suggestions?

Proraso pre-shave for sensitive skin works for me.

TOBS creams are great, but have been replaced as of last week by The Fat!

I think Rose was the best of the 6 TOBS creams that I've had. It is the only cream where I actually finished a tub and bought another. T&H Rose may be a slightly better performer for me, but I haven't decided if it's worth more than twice the cost of TOBS.

I have an unopened sandalwood. I hope it doesn't clog the razor. Or prove difficult to wash out of the brush.
I've only used the Jermyn St. cream, which as far as I'm concerned is a near-miracle product. If it's not the most protective lather, it's pretty close. And it doesn't clog anything -- rinses really easily, IME. Smells great (about my favorite), lathers itself almost....

I'm working on a tub of ToBS Avocado right now that I LOVE, but have a tub of Rose and Sandalwood on the way as well as some MWF (haven't tried any of them). Going to be hard not shaving 3 times that day lol.

Taylor makes great creams that compete favorably with the likes of Trumper or Harris for around half the price. They changed the rose (and avocado) formulas several years ago. The old ones were sublime, while the newer versions are still pretty good.

Hi to all,

almost finished the tobs rose cream so thought it would be apt to pass on my experience!

ToBS rose is not bad. however the reason I chose tobs as oppose to art of shaving was availability in the uk and cost. tobs is a fraction of the cost of art of shaving BUT you do need to use ALOT more to obtain the same luxurious lather.

Will I buy it again, probably not. I will try some others and get some art of shaving just in case!

In general I would place TOBS lower down the scale than e.g. GFT when it comes to shaving cream. I want to like it (the scent is generally very good) but ultimately I get quite a rough shave out of it...so I prefer to put my money down for tubs of GFT and be done with it.

(actually the price differential is pretty acceptable and worth it on the performance, when you consider you're paying for 200g GFT v 150g TOBS).

I just picked up some GFT coconut to try, but my next purchase im looking at Castle Forbes, its a bit more expensive than either but apparently it lasts for ages(atleast 6 months/tub or more if its in rotation) and is delightfully smooth.

I just finished a tub of TOBS lavender and I am waiting on another pot in the mail. I find that TOBS lavender has a better, stronger scent than even Castle Forbes (I just love, love the scent) and when face lathered, with the brush loaded directly from the cream like a soap puck it produces the best lather I have ever used.
