So on impulse I bought a Parker SRW on Amazon (with the pack of half-blades), figuring that the price was right and that I was intrigued. Got it in the mail today, and decided to jump right in. The stars must have been aligned or something, because I had one excellent shave. No nicks, cuts, anything, just one solid pass. I didn't push myself too hard, and of course a couple days of growth couldn't have hurt either, but in all honesty I got a shave about as close as I do with my DEs and had a ton of fun doing it. I don't have the money or time for a real straight setup, but I'm really looking forward to future shaves. Just thought I'd share.

Where it really shined was on my chin. I have tough, tough vertically-growing hair there and it was gone without a hitch..fantastic.

On a related note, could someone who uses shavette-style razors give any insight into how long to keep a blade in the razor? Same concept as a DE? I'm planning on just leaving the blade in the razor between shaves.

Congrats!!! You'll find if you don't bling it all out a real strait would be cheaper in the long run. but we all like the upgrades.
