First Straight Razor Restore

Hey guys, pretty new to this site although I have been lurking for quite a while now. I have learned a lot by just reading through the forum. I was digging through my grandfathers tool drawers and found this razor. It was quite dirty and had a nasty chip along the edge. I decided it would be a great practice restoration. I was a little hesitant of the chip but was able to sand it down quite easily. I'm pretty pleased with how it has turned out. I plan to make some scales soon. What do the you guys think? Anybody have and information on the maker?

I don't know about the maker but nice job! That seems like a relatively intimidating project for a first restore, glad it came out for you.

Very Nice!

A friend of mine has blade with a chunk missing that maybe can be saved.

What did you use to get the chip out? Grinding wheel?

I actually just used some heavy grit sandpaper and did it by hand. Since it was my first chip restore I wanted to play it safe . I thought of using a Dremel but I didn't want to mess the blade up anymore than it was. It actually sanding down pretty easily.
