First SR shave

Shave #303 (357 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: RR GC .84 OC, Astra SP blade, Yaqi SF synth brush, CBL 50 ROS soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and Old Spice AS to finish!

Up early for progeny school transportation, then back home for a pleasant cleanup and shave.

Starting yesterday evening, there was a high speed chase in the surrounding neighborhood that ended up with one suspect barricaded up in a house a couple blocks away, in sight of our house. They’re going on their 15th something hour of trying to get this guy out. Thankfully he’s released almost all the hostages he previously had. Craziness.

That concert I thought was this week at work ended up being next week. Slight sigh of relief, though there is a wedding and huge annual fundraising biscotti bake going on their weekend instead. So still busy, just not quite as much.

Off to Wednesday coffee!

Have a great one!

Shave #304 (358 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Weck Med Prep shavette, Personna HS blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, Yaqi SF synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Skin Bracer AS, and MK Cityscape frag to finish!

It’s my hump day...whoop whooooop!

Headed in to work soon for an early day. Most of the late meetings are canceled due to something about kids filling up their tummies with sugary treats.

Perfect shave with CBL Money tonsorial today.

Rest of my free morning is Daredevil and prepping for my part on Sunday morning!

Have a great Thursday all!

Shave #305 (358 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Gillette Fat Boy, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL SIR Fougere tonsorial soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Pitralon Classic AS, and Cypress/Melaleuca/Siberian Fir EO to finish!

Shave excellence this morning! The ‘59 Gillette Fat Boy is the pinnacle of the Gillette adjustable venture.

Kids survived their candy grab adventures and even bribed me with a couple bars of my one of my favorites - Twix. What good is being “dad” if you can’t work the advantages!?

Early day today. Missus heading out this afternoon for the 2 day program staff and church elder retreat. So I’m back on Mr Mom duties. Unfortunately for the children, they’re going to be stuck with me the whole time as no friends were available. But hey...once homework is done, it’s all games and Netflix for them...lucky! :ROFLMAO:

Have a great Friday all!

Shave #306 (358 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable, Supply blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL BINGO BOMB soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, CC Venture AS, and Greet frag to finish!

Early day in to work...corralling the kids and headed out the door!

Bingo Bomb is fun stuff! The base is a bit gummy, but it lathers excellently. I get pineapple and maybe a toasted coconut? Then the synthetic coolant ramps up to a nice and pleasant level. Great!

Have a great Saturday all!

Shave #307 (358 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: RR Game Changer .68, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Cherry Blossom & Bamboo soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Speick AS, and Terre D’Hermes frag to finish!

Another early morning, after a rough/little sleep night. @dave in KYmust be rubbing off on me over the interwebs!

Excellent shave since I took no chances!

Off to help with services for the morning. Missus get back this afternoon. Not much scheduled on the to do list this weekend! Sweet!

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Shave #308 (359 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding shavette, Feather Pro blade, Gillette Fat Boy, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Fresh Vetiver Red, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Lucky Tiger AS, and Humorous TDH clone frag to finish!

Video is up on the Tube - GearNoir’s Shave Log!

Shave #309 (360 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding shavette, Feather Pro blade, Gillette Fat Boy, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, JoHS Turkish Bath soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Barbasol PR AS, and Lavender/Roman Chamomile/Tangerine EO to finish!

New work week...here we go! Great shave to start it off! Feather knocked em down and Fat Boy cleaned em up.

Going through my shave things to find items for the box. Found a handful already that will hopefully be enjoyed at in dens new to them!

Not much else that’s really new and report worthy. Guess that’s good?

Have a great Tuesday all!

Shave #310 (360 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Gillette NEW LC, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, SS Citrus & Bay soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Bootlegger’s Bay Rum AS to finish!

Up early for DaddyDashDropOff (TM); this morning is a bit brisk, so I’ve payed out my shemaghs and chose one to wear. Then it was home for a quick shave with the glorious NEW LC. Rewrapped my shemagh as soon as possible after the Bootlegger’s splash so I can bast in the yummy scent.

Arrr! Avast! Fire on the poop deck!

Off for a date morning, then a couple hours to myself before work.

BFV just kicked things off in the Pacific Theatre of WWII and Daredevil just got interesting with the tie in of The Punisher!

Happy Wednesday all!

Shave #311 (361 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and Lucky Tiger AS to finish!

Money shave! Boy was it excellent!

Sitting here, mostly scentless (slight Money smell wafting off the skin), hoping my travel atomizer of Guerlain Vetiver arrives before I have to go to work.

As part of our evenings, the missus and I have been watching The Office. It started off pretty slow, but once you get about half way through the first season, it really picks up. Really been enjoying working out way through it. We can see why it’s a classic!

My Wednesday today, but even though the rest of the work week is long, late shifts because of the concert, there is a light at the end of the road! Three day weekend! Sunday through Tuesday, due to the holiday. Woohoo!

Have a great Thursday all!

Shave #312 (362 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Fresh Vetiver soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Speick AS, and Guerlain Vetiver frag to finish!

Slept in after my late work shift. Nice shave to freshen me up.

Most of this gear you’ve seen before, multiple times. Needless to say, great shave, zero issues. So I’ll skip ahead, straight to the frag!

I took a chance a grabbed a 8ml travel atomizer “sample” of Guerlain Vetiver from a decant vendor on the bay. What sealed the deal was not only the rating of the vendor, but thanks to a coupon, I only paid $5 shipped.

The atomizer is nice, hope it lasts for some reuse. Plastic pump, but feels solid with an aluminum jacket surrounding and glass vial for the liquid. The case twists to hide or expose the pump.

The juice itself - opens with a very heavy lemony hit, probably sits there for a good 10 minutes before slowly fading. Then the nice, clean Vetiver scent comes out to play. Fine Accoutrements Clean/Green Vetiver NAILED the dry down scent meticulously with their AS. Guerlain might have a tad more depth, but if you wanted the scent without the lemony opening, Fine would do you fine. I sprayed myself a bit liberally post shave. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone else around at this moment to tell me how much projection I’m at 2 hours later, but from my own senses (which we all know can be quite faulty when absorbed in a scent) I get the occasional whiff from movement and can easily grab the scent from a whiff a couple inches off the wrist. This is all frag in skin, I did not spray any on my shirt (went so far as to leave my shirt off until I felt no frag juice would transfer to it). The scent is great, clean, light (without being airy), crisp...I imagine this could be worn any time of the year. I’ll try to remember to report back on longevity this evening. I am definitely happy with this purchase, more testing required to see if the full size will be worth purchasing (though at $35ish I can’t imagine it not being!).

Another long night tonight, even having to go in a bit later to reduce overtime.

Have a great Friday all!

Still getting whiffs as I work these 8 hours later. Much fewer to be sure, but it’s there. On my wrists I can get the scent about an 1/2 to 1 inch off the skin. It’s still green but not as crisp, it’s softer now, a light powder finish underneath.

Shave #313 (363 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL SIR Fougere tonsorial soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Pitralon Classic AS, and Le Labo Bergamote 22 frag to finish!

Got home about midnight last night, didn’t fall asleep till about 1:30. Expecting worse tonight.

Final longevity report for first use of Guerlain Vetiver - I could still get occasional whiffs and pick up the scent from the wrists before falling asleep last night. The powder had mostly worn off and it was just light green scent. It was totally gone by this morning.

Was up around 9:30 this morning, didn’t roll out of bed till about 10 though. Shower n shave, continuing the green theme of yesterday with some different notes, then a nice home breakfast with the family, something that doesn’t get to happen often enough unfortunately. Then it was chore time...and reality set back in as the whining started. :001_tt2:

Really looking forward to getting this day over with!

Have a great Saturday all!

Shave #314 (363 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Gillette Fat Boy, Astra SP blade, Sorrentino TSC 1st Anniversary badger brush, CBL Barbershop soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Fine AB AS, and Fine AB EdT to finish!

Well...I survived! Didn’t get to sleep until around 2 though.

Up at 7 this morning for shower and shave. Fine AB has me smelling like a million bucks. Looking forward to that first cup of joe, whenever it might be.

Today off through Tuesday. A few major chores to take care of, otherwise a whole lot of nothin! Mystery box inbound for my enjoyment this week. Pretty sure I’m going to rip that sucker open and experience everything in less than an hour; I’m stoked to see what it holds!

Have a blessed Sunday all!

Shave #315 (363 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Gillette NEW LC, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, CBL Fresh Vetiver soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and Guerlain Vetiver frag to finish!

Video is up on the Tube - GearNoir’s Shave Log!

Shave #316 (363 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, Yaqi SF synth brush, CBL ROS soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, Old Spice AS, and Frankincense & Sandalwood EO to finish!

Been slowly catching up on sleep the last couple days. Three day weekends are nice; wish they rolled around more often!

Quick shave this morning after some coffee and Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. The Old Spice AS was a list minute decision I probably shouldn’t have done since I wanted to use the Frankincense & Sandalwood EO today. It totally overrode any subtleties of the EO, which is pretty light anyway. Oh well!

TSC mystery shave box was dropped off on my doorstep this morning. Looking forward to ripping into that later! Till then still some laundry to do and kids to pick up later.

Have a great Tuesday all!

Shave #317 (364 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, Clown Puke tub soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and The Veg AS to finish!

3 day weekend is over, back to normalcy, starting with normal Wednesday morning Mr Mom duties and coffee date morning with the missus!

Used my Clown Puke tub this morning which now includes GD, A&E, AOS, Honeybee, and I think a little CBL, amongst other tidbits I’ve been throwing/mooshing in there. Needless to say, it’s a unique scent, not bad overall, but it lathers nicely, is slick, and washes fairly cleanly. Also pulled out The Veg decant I’ve had for well over a year now...still not Chosen sadly.

Back to work later today. Not quite sure all the week holds.

Got pranked pretty good by these TSC guys! Catch up on the latest video if you haven’t - it’s on the Tube - GearNoir’s Shave Log!

Have a great Wednesday all!

Shave #318 (365 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Feather AC SS folding, Feather Pro blade, RR GC .68, Astra SP blade, Yaqi SF synth brush, CBL Money tonsorial soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and 1 Million frag clone to finish!

That’s right @Dave in KY and @NurseDave , I used something from the box! So neener neener. The frag clone is pretty soft, probably could be considered unisex. It’s mostly a synthetic vanilla/tonka kind of scent I think. Goes ninja mode after about 10 minutes.

Good shave today after what ended up being a tiring night. The coworker that was supposed to come in to help close up ended up re-tearing an elbow tendon somehow, so he stayed home instead after a dr visit and cortisone shot. Thankfully the worker who was on from a bit earlier in the day was able to stay a tad later to make sure things didn’t get left too messy. Still worked the last couple hours by my lonesome though.

Busy work weekend ahead, hopefully nothing too late like last week though!

The real Mystery Pass Box should be delivered some time today...or so @NurseDave says...if we can believe anything that guy says anymore... :p

Have a great Thursday all!

Shave #319 (365 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Mystery razor from Pass box, Personna blade, Yaqi SF synth brush, Mystery soap from Pass box, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and Pitralon Classic to finish!

Surprise surprise...one more spray of the 1 Million clone on my neck/shirt before heading out to work yesterday and I was catching whiffs for the next 8+ hours! Not bad ’tall!

Shaved with a razor and soap from the pass box this morning to solidify whether or not they’d be a part of my picks...they will be! The razor will take some getting used to, but was a much more pleasant experience than I previously had with a similar razor I have, which doesn’t see much use. Hopefully this one will change that a bit!

Off to work a bit early to start a busy work weekend. Many moving parts. Ready for my weekend already.

Have a great Friday all!

Shave #320 (365 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Ikon x3 Slant, Personna blade, RR Big Bruce synth brush, Proraso Red soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, and Proraso Red AS to finish!

Up a tad early to get some hang out time with the kids. It was a longer night than expected last night.

Sorry ahead of time, a bit of a rant here. We’re already down a worker as one of our part timers resigned to do an internship. Another guy I work with just can’t seem to catch a break and therefore I, by extension, can’t either. It’s nobody’s fault either really (except maybe long term life choices). A few weeks ago a coworker was out a week with serious stomach issues. Wednesday morning he tore a tendon in his elbow, but was still able to one arm it. Well, last night he torn his ACL, just walking around cleaning, 2 hours into his shift. He goes to see a specialist Monday...reading up, chances are we’ll be luck if he can actually do work anytime before Christmas...and these next couple months are our busiest of the year. What gives?!

OK rant over. Thankfully we’re hiring someone, for the person that resigned, this week. Just hoping this all sorts out somehow otherwise we’re more likely to have some sick workers from shouldering the extra load.

Anyways...hope the rest of y’all are having a great Saturday!

Shave #321 (365 Open Blade Shaves) of 2019:

Gear: Schick M Adjustable injector, Supply blade, Sorrentino TSC 1st Anniversary badger brush, SV 70th soap, generic witch hazel, Thayer’s Medicated, witch hazel/aloe blend AS, SV 70th AS, and Guerlain Vetiver frag to finish!

Bed late, up early. And to answer your question...yes, I used 4 aftershaves today!

With some solid effort, got off just exactly on time with last night’s shift. Can’t ask for better than that I guess! Got home and spent time with the missus before dragging ourselves to bed.

Up early for services this morning. I like a full shower n shave before heading out, so it’s upon me to make sure I have time to do that while also allowing time for everyone else to do their thing...the one bad part of a single bathroom gig. What a shave it was though...cruise control easy with a bevy of luxuriously green scents, topped off by 70th AS and GV of course! 70th is a little lighter and brighter, but GV actually rounds it out pretty nicely with some more muted, mellow greenness. I’m sold on GV now after this, my 3rd or 4th use. I’ll be picking up a full size bottle at some point if my EO experimentation doesn’t kick off soon. The wife doesn’t mind it either, she says to just smells like soap to her. Hahahahah, “just soap”...silly woman...

So, services this morning with a pastry and tasty coffee, a couple errands, then the kids’ fall music program performance back at church. At some point I need to get the yard cleaned up. All my trees seem to have conspired that this was the week to start some major shedding.

Have a blessed Sunday all!
