What's new

First soap use today!

I did a double debut this morning and finally used my lonely Omega 10065 and a long-neglected puck of Arlington that I bought nearly a year ago. I've been a dedicated cream user since I started and the soap experience is definitely different, between the brush and the hardness of the soap it took me three tries to really work up a solid lather. First time was way too watery and got used as pre-shave (a kind of abbreviated Kyle's prep), second lasted only one pass, but third time was pretty solid. And then...almost no burn on the alum post-shave alum! :thumbup1: That's pretty rare for me, and especially in the past couple of weeks, so this is a very encouraging start.

Congrats on your first stab at soap! Keep at it and you will be getting shaves that rival your cream. Read all the stickies on lathering soap.....you be a pro in no time.

Awesome. I started out with creams then transitioned to soaps and used those almost exclusively for a while. But the pendulum has swung back some and I appreciate the creams again. All part of the fun.

I'm the same way, having started out with creams, and have been using soaps for a couple of months. Started with Gentlemen's Best, then got Pen's English Fern, and now Cade. My creams have since been languishing..

Today, I learned that a combination of soap and cream seasoned with a dash of glycerine, is the best lather of all.

Your choice of creams and soaps.
