First shave with Vintage slant

Yesterday I had my first shave with my vintage Hoffritz slant razor...and oh man, it lived up to all the praise lavished upon it. I'd been waiting to use it for some time, but kept reading various threads about how it can bite you badly etc. So, I was a little apprehensive at first, but decided it was time to use that bad boy...and I'm glad that I did.

I had about four days of whisker growth, to really give the slant a workout, or so I thought. I loaded up one of the original Hoffritz blades that came with the razor, lathered up with some Old Spice shave soap and proceeded to shave.

Needless to say, I was pretty amazed at the results after only one pass. This slant is like the Maxim machine gun of safety razors! It mowed down whiskers just effortlessly. The smoothness of my face after one pass was better than any other razor combo, that I've tried to date.

I ended up doing a three pass shave as usual, but didn't want to push it too much, as my jawline and area under my jaw on my neck are pretty sensitive. I did manage an ATG shave on my neck, and definately acheived a DFS if not BBS on over 90% of my face. I missed some ATG spots, because the whiskers were gone so thoroughly on the WTG pass.

I'm very pleased with this purchase, I paid quite a bit for this razor, as it was only lighty used, the silver variant and had all the original packaging along with an additional container of 15 of the Hoffritz blades.

The blades are very nice as well, Marked Hoffritz stainless W.Germany I'd put them on par with The Sharks I'd tried recently, and loved for the smooth shave those gave me. I don't have a big variety of blades yet, the Hoffritz's being only the 4th brand I'd used to date.

Der Slantbar ist Wunderbar!
