First Shave with my Gillette 1961 (first shave with any DE for that matter).

Day 1 - Got the razor I have been waiting for that i ordered a week ago. Got the sampler pack yesterday and was kind of bummed that i had to wait for my razor. So I started with the Derbys and went WTG for the first shave, almost like I had done it before, and started hearing the blade sing. Went for my first pass all the way around, short strokes, flipping the razor around and cleaning after the 2nd stroke. Then I looked at my face and realized I wasn't as close as I want to be so I went for XTG shave, took my time, lathered up, went to town. Looked at my face again, realized still not as close as I wanted it, so finally ATG and BAM, BBS shave on the first shave.

Only 1 weeper, no cuts, and 1 completely satisfied new DE shaver.

Now I want another razor lol. I do however need a Styptic Pen and aftershave.

It sounds like it went quite well. It only gets better from here. Which DE razor and blade did you use?

And Derby Extra's. Not a bad shave but Had to make 2 passes for DFS.

Shaved with a chrome flare tip SS this morning myself. A D-3 TV model with a Gillette Super Platinum blade. They're great razors. If you fell like trying something a bit more aggressive after awhile, try a red tip. I think you'll like it just as much.

There are so many great razors out there. Take your time with this one, and then just go for it.

Congrats! I love those razors. Sounds like you had a similar experience I had the first time I used one of those Gillettes.
