First Shave with Gem Junior

I just had my first shave with a Gem Junior that I just picked up. Wow, the shave was just fantastic!
Very easy to use razor and the quality of the shave was just outstanding. I wouldn't mind something a bit more aggressive though.

After I get some more shaves under my belt with the Junior, what SE razor should I get next? I'm thinking about the Gem G-Bar or the OCMM.

I agree that a OCMM would be more aggressive than the G-bar. I still prefer the G-bar though for a smoother shave.

I have a Jr. and one of the "chain" ones and I like them both very much. They are what caused me to set the DE's down. My wife has a Gbar that I have used a few times and it seems to be a good razor as well.

I would love to get my hands on an old star or ER lather catcher but short of that I am happy with what I have.

I guess I forgot to mention that this was my first shave with a SE. I've been DE shaving going on 2 years now.
I've seen a couple of ER and Gem Lather Catchers on ebay. They look fantastic, but how do they shave?

If you want to slowly move up the SE food chain, the G-bar is a good next step razor.

The OCMM is the most agressive razor I've ever used...period, DE, SE, Injector....doesn't matter...

That being said, it's a great shave!

I have not tried a Junior although I own the one with big black bakelite handle; so I can't compare the aggressiveness.

It takes a good 20 to 25 shaves to get a hang of the OCMM. Its kind of like a straight edge, but once you get a hang of it, then HOLD ON. Its a superb razor, very efficient and IMO close enough to the vaunted Cobra Classic in being the ultimate stubble cutter. Its not as aggressive as the Muhle R41, but close.

The G is the mildest SE I own. Wonderful razor and nothing but nothing looks like the G.

I've never got a good shave out of the OCMM. Perhaps not enough patience to get 20 shaves in with it. My next big SE shave project I guess...

I love my SE razors, but I never felt I could get a smooth shave from a OCMM. It just felt harsh to me, close but harsh and prone to giving nicks and rash. I gave up on it and gave it away.
The Gbar is milder for sure but still a smooth close shaving razor. I think it's the atomic age George Jetson styling that attracts me to using it. I don't know how they chrome plated these but they all look great even after 50 years.
They look like liquid metal was poured over them.
The best part about these razors is they are so cheap even in mint condition. Try all of them.

Nice, Aren't these SE's Amazing?

My First one was a 1914, I could not believe what a BBS shave i got from it. Then used the 1912 and that was also amazing, just a little more mild then the 1914 but i'm not complaining as i loved them both..

Just picked up a G-bar and tried it this morning. Really nice, smooth shave. It wasn't terribly aggressive, but that's fine with me. I don't require a super aggressive razor to get a nice shave.

I should have a OCMM within the next week. I'm so glad I tried SE's. My DE's are getting lonely.

The ocmm can bite, make sure to control your angle throughout the entire shave.
