First Shave with Castle Forbes

Good grief - I'm usually a soap guy but the lather from this cream was amazing. Not as slick as a great soap but thick, rich and creamy like nothing else I've ever used. I've got a cold so I can't say much about the scent but I just bought travel tubs of the lime and lavender and I'm really looking forward to adding this to the rotation.

I agree. Used the lavender about two weeks ago and was amazed at the lather it produced. I don't know if I really consider it a cream. Its consistency is so thick it seems more like a soft soap. I appreciate everyone's advice on how to make a good lather with Castle Forbes. I never would have imagined it required as much water as it does if I had not searched the forum, and read the commits, before I placed my order.

Good stuff.

Having just cleared my den of everything I don't like, there's 23 soaps and 4 creams, and one of the creams is Castle Forbes.

I use CF Lavender cream about once a month. I used it tonight and the shave was the best I have had in a while. I treat it as I would a soft soap and it is thirsty stuff, but once I got the hang of it, the lather is simply spectacular. Once the OP gets over his head cold, the scent will blow him away.

I'm surprised that even a head cold could keep the scents at bay!

Rotation, rotation. Not enough days in the week

Rotation, schmotation. He just said it gave him the best shave he's had in a while, which means the other products he's rotating aren't doing as good a job. Life's short; shave with the best.

Hey...that should be a signature. Maybe I'll use it once B&B stops insisting on making me advertise I use Aqua Velva when I don't.

I know what your saying detective.
Personally, I wish I could cut to the chase and utilize the cream of the crop but there is a part of me that tells I have invested alot and that I should at least use a good portion of it to justify it.

You always present a good case though. The voice of reason :001_rolle

Well, well, well... Castle Forbes has another fan now.
Well done!
Castle Forbes is one of the very best shaving creams available.

If it shaves that well for you, why not use it more often?

Hello Horatio!
My recent Castle Forbes shave wasn't just the best I have had in awhile, it was the best I have ever managed with Castle Forbes cream. I really used to struggle to get great lather from it. I just didn't quit on it entirely and this time I hit the perfect ration and got that spectacular lather, which in turn facilitated said superior shave. My daily creams are Nancy Boy in both current scents. I alternate between the two and they are not taking a back seat to anyone in terms of performance for me. CF doesn't so much outperform NB as it adds an element of luxury that may be indefinable.
The point made about rotation is valid though, as I have three pucks of tallow first Pen's English Fern waiting in the wings also.
On point though, properly lathered CF is clearly one of the finest shaving experiences available.

CF is without a doubt one of the best creams I have used, I rock the limes. Once you get the water ratio down pat the slickness will blow you away and you only need a very small amount to produce mounds of lather. I have yet to find a replacement that knocks this cream out of my rotation, it is a top notch cream, and I am primarily a soap guy.
