What's new

First shave with an Aristocrat today

I picked this up a few days ago off eBay. It had an issue with the head being loose and the TTO mechanism fully wound up.

After about 40mins of playing around with it I got it working sweetly again. I gave it a good clean and it came up pretty good.

So when it came time to shave today I loaded it with a new Feather blade and away I went. Let me just say that I now get why these are so sought after. If it was a car it would be a high powered luxury saloon like a Cadillac.
It felt so good in the hand and the large heavy head just glided effortlessly across my face. I also found that it was hard to shave at the wrong angle with it. It felt powerful but smooth at the same time. I think that I'll suspend my rotation for a few days to give this a good run just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

Sounds to me like a good deal, and a great Shave. Looks like you did an incredible job cleaning it up. I just got my first DE today (33c) and already I'm looking into a nice Gold Aristocrat on eBay!

Congratulations on your find!

John,

Great looking razor. Great pictures too. Congrats on the shave, sounds like you are having a good time with it.

Someday I'll get one of the more special Gillette razors, for now I'm very happy with the 40's Superspeeds...can't wait to see what the difference is though.

I have one too and I agree with you all the way. It is the best non-adjustable I have shaved with and even gives the adjustables a run for their money. Great cleanup and repair!

Couldn't agree more. A very nice cleanup job you've done too.

I've had my Brit Aristocrat for about a week now and it's just made way in the rotation for the new EJ 89L. I'm already missing the way it shaves and the build quality (plus it shines too)

Pictures of the little beauty here.
