First SE razor Ever-Ready 1914?

I bought this at Above the Tie a couple of days ago. To be perfectly honest I was there to buy my birth year Slim and needed to spend a little more to qualify for free shipping. Basically I bought this Ever-Ready without any prior investigating into SE razors mostly because it looked very nice, seemed in good shape and because I knew I wanted to try SE shaving at some point.

Now, having read a few threads with recommendations for first SE razors the 1914 ER never seems to be among the recommendations. Do you guys think I would be okay starting out with this or should I maybe set the 1914 ER aside for now and get a 1912 Gem or something else to ease myself into SE shaving?

Load it up and have at it, the '14 ER is one of the best SE's ever made. That particular set was sold in the early-mid 20's and was known as the Town set.

That one looks like it's been re-plated, or else it's in absolute factory new mint condition.

That is a Fine Shaver, and I have a few sets of 1914 SE's That one there gave me one of the best shaves in my Life, even going against the grain, You got yourself a fine shave there friend, Congrats

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess I'm good to go then. I'm really looking forward to receiving this razor and using it.
