First Re-knot and 4 in-progress

Thanks to all the great info posted here, my first re-knot was a 100% success! Same goes for the other 4 brushes, thus far. I am just waiting on a few knots from TGN to finish up.

I wasn't thrilled with my Vulfix 404 brush, but loved the handle. I plopped a TGN F2 knot in there and it is just amazing. It is my first TGN knot, so I can't compare to the regular Finest they also offer. The old knot took FOREVER to come out via the steam method. Almost 2 hrs! I was able to finally twist it out and use a dremel w/brass wire wheel to clean out the rest of the gunk. I used 3 nickels for a shelf and to add weight. Final specs are 22x49 and it rivals many big name brushes in my den. I'm really excited to get the other handles full of badgery goodness!

Thanks! The McNess is really thin plastic up top. Any issues with filling it up with epoxy for support? I believe it will generate some heat and I don't want this one to melt on me.

I like to use hot melt glue to fill voids such as you describe with the McNess. If you're concerned about heat deforming the thin plastic, you can fill it a little at a time and allow the glue to cool between applications (the same principle would apply to expoxy, for that matter).

Good luck-- those are great looking brushes!

You can also use RTV Silicone Adhesive for setting knots. It also has the advantage of being able to easily remove the knot if you ever want to swap it.

That's a great idea. Do you fill it up all the way and then make a new hole for the knot? That is my plan, at the moment.
