First Post - How Did I do

Hello All,

I recently returned to blade shaving with some good advice found here about shaving kit. I ordered a Parker 90R to go with my Feats of Clay shaving mug, Omega brush and Proraso shave cream and aftershave.
I was at a local gun show and chanced upon a looks like new, unused Gillette Milord gold plated TTO safety razor in a faux alligator leatherette kit with original unused blades. I paid $45.00. Did I make out ok and what vintage would it be.

Thanks,

Brian

Welcome to B&B!

+1 on pictures.

First of all, Brian, welcome to B&B!!! Glad to have you join our group!!

Now about your Milord . . . OUTSTANDING score!!! :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

Yes, in the condition you described along with the case (which sounds like the correct "faux alligator" covering for the Milord) . . . $45 is a great price!!!

Your razor dates back to the late '40s to early '50's . . . a date code (or lack of) on the under-side of the base plate will help identify it. As Alex mentioned, pictures will help us help you and are always appreciated!!

The Milord, like the other gold-plated versions of Gillette's "regular" nickel-plated offerings, is an outstanding shaver which can give you years of smooth performance . . . and looks good in the process!!

I had a Milord once . . . sold it, and have missed it ever since! Yes, I have found other outstanding shaves . . . but have never found the exact balance, smoothness, and joy that the Milord gave me . . .

Great score, sir, and again, welcome aboard!! :001_smile

Welcome to B&B.

I have a lot of fine razors, but the one I pick up most mornings is a '46 Milord.

You just bought a lifetime of great shaves......enjoy.

I remember going to a knife show a few times, and never seen razors there, and he found one at a gun show. Interesting.
