First La Toja Shave

Today was my first shave with La Toja from Spain and I can't believe how inexpensive it is. This is an amazing product; it easily produces an extremely slick lather and has a very nice subtle scent. I'll be keeping a tube in the shave den and be adding it to my rotation. It seems like a steal at under $10 USD for a giant tube...

It is a great one. I believe it's just as good as La Toja shaving stick lather wise, and that's saying a lot. Never thought of cigarettes from the scent, but I have to say it's really... bizarre smelling. Herbal, soapy, maybe a hint of.. garlic and mildew? But not unpleasant somehow.

Great shaving cream. When I was in Spain earlier this years I stocked up with several tubes as they were only €2.50 each.

I like the La Toja Sensitive, a bit milder scent-wise that moisturizes well in the Winter. The LEA SC is another good one made in Spain, it does have Lanolin for those who may be sensitive, very good lather with a mild soap-type scent.

My parents are going to spain soon. I will be asking them to look out for some La Toya for me, as well as some "LEA" soap which is equally inexpensive. Your descriptions and different inputs have made me very curious to try it out. :)

I don't get the "cigarette, garlic or mildew" notes; someone described it as an ocean type scent and I agree...it's a pleasant fresh/salty air scent. As subtle as the scent is, the slickness alone would make it worth trying.

A close friend of mine who is Basque and visits Spain frequently, gave me a tube of LaToja a while back. I agree with your comments, however,I did not like the scent at all.I can't describe the scent but it put me off.

For me it's not as great as the soap stick, but it's certainly a good cream.

La Toja shave cream is one of those drug store products that will work day in and day out, I prefer the shave stick a bit more than the cream while the after shave splash sort of left me a bit flat. Scentwise the stick is where it is at for me with La Toja.

If you enjoyed La Toja cream, you should also try the Portuguese cream Musgo Real next! It is equal to La Toja in performance and value. I enjoy the classic scent, but they make several others also.

Just received my tube of Musgo today...will be using it in the morning. La Toja and Musgo have been two of the 4-5 creams I've been dying to try out.

Musgo is thinner than LT so be careful squeezing it out of the tube. However, don't let the thinness fool you, this is a good lathering/performing cream and super slick too.

Just by chance :wink2: I came along 34th St on Saturday and hit Pasteur's.
I got out of there with less than a dozen bucks on the bill - that must be a new low figure record !
A LaToja stick and a 5 pack of Kai blades.
I tried the stick today for the first time and it's OK but I'm not that much excited about it. Lathered up in no time, good shave but the skin felt a bit dry afterwards. DFS but not stellar.

I bought the cream in 2012 and found it to be okay, not super great but a steady performer.

I picked up the LaToja stick along with a few other sticks prior to the 2013 Sabbatical and finally got around to trying it a few months back. I like it much better than the cream as it gives me a rich, dense and slick lather. It is in the top of the stick rotation when I go "sticks for a month or so" every now & then.

I really like the La Toja Stick. I found the La Toja Cream on sale for $6.99/150ml tube and decided to try it. It is one of the best creams I have used. It lathers easily and produces a nice thick lather that provides great glide.
